With victory, Rick Scott joins an exclusive club of Florida politicians

What do you Rick Scott, Bob Graham and Lawton Chiles have in common?

They're all members of an exclusive club: Florida politicians who won terms to serve as governor and U.S. Senator.

With his presumptive victory, Scott becomes just the fifth person elected to both offices in Florida and the first Republican.

Scott's path to the U.S. Senate mirrors three of his four predecessors: governor's mansion first, then Congress. Only Chiles took the reverse path. Chiles is also the only one of the five to take a break between offices.

Chiles and Scott share another accomplishment: They're the only two to beat Bill Nelson in an election.
