Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar praised President Donald Trump’s “incredible” and “right response” to the coronavirus crisis, adding that we are seeing “unprecedented leadership” in America.
The normally staunch and sometimes vile critic of the president was responding to a Twitter post by The Intercept’s investigative journalist, Lee Fang.
The post notes how Trump had suspended foreclosures, was planning a cash infusion to help the American people, and had invoked the Defense Production Act as a means to get private firms to step up and produce supplies.
Make no mistake, Fang’s post is meant to draw a conclusion that Trump is implementing government intervention platforms to help rescue the country from the financial ruin caused by the pandemic.
“Kind of a shell shock for anyone who reported on any economic policies in the Obama years,” he writes.
That is the aspect Omar is praising.
“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” she wrote regarding the President’s policies.
