Trump cheers student's $250 million lawsuit against the Washington Post: 'Go get them Nick'

President Trump on Wednesday praised student Nick Sandmann for filing a defamation suit against the Washington Post for writing that he and others harassed a Native American protester.“

‘The Washington Post ignored basic journalistic standards because it wanted to advance its well-known and easily documented biased agenda against President Donald J. Trump.’ Covington student suing WAPO. Go get them Nick. Fake News!” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.

Sandmann, who became the center of controversy after an image of a confrontation with a Native American protester in Washington went viral last month, filed a $250 million lawsuit Tuesday. The lawsuit is suing for the same amount of money that the Post’s owners, Jeff Bezos, paid for the publication in 2013.The Covington Catholic High School student from Kentucky alleged in the lawsuit that the Post circulated “false and defamatory accusations” in covering the incident, which involved a minor.

Initial reports of the incident said Sandmann, who was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, was attempting to intimidate Native American leader Nathan Phillips, who was participating in the Indigenous Peoples March.
