Republicans introduce SAVE Act to require proof of American citizenship to vote

On Wednesday at 11 AM EDT, House Republicans held a press conference to announce a new legislation being introduced: the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. Spearheaded by Senator Mike Lee (UT), Congressman Chip Roy (TX), and Speaker Mike Johnson (LA), the bill would require proof of American citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

Other individuals involved in the effort include Stephen Miller of America First Legal, Cleta Mitchell of the FAIR Elections Fund, Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots Action, Ken Cuccinelli of the Election Transparency Initiative, Rosemary Jenks of the Immigration Accountability Project, and Andy Roth of the State Freedom Caucus Network.
