TRACKING ASSANGE: Here’s what’s happening

Thirteen-and-a-half years later, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange agreed to a guilty plea deal in London to free him from the legal case over his publicaton of classified U.S. documents.

Assange is expected to plead guilty to an Espionage Act charge of conspiring to unlawfully obtain and disseminate classified national defense information, according to the U.S. Justice Department in a letter filed in court.

Now, his plane is headed for U.S. territory after spending 5 years in a high-security London prison. Assange will arrive in Saipan to enter a plea deal with the U.S. government.

According to The Associated Press, the chartered flight from London that Assange’s wife, Stella, confirmed was carrying her husband, left Don Mueang International Airport.

The official WikiLeaks account on X also stated that Assange was heading toward Saipan, the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. commonwealth in the Pacific, where he’s scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Assange is expected to return to his home country of Australia after his plea and sentencing. The hearing is taking place in Saipan because of Assange’s opposition to traveling to the continental U.S. and the court’s proximity to Australia, prosecutors said.

British judicial officials confirmed that Assange left the U.K. on Monday evening after being granted bail at a secret hearing last week.

Following news of Assange's release, free thinkers took to X to share their favorite videos of the WikiLeaks founder.

One video, shared by anonymous user Wall Street Apes, detailed how Assange exposed how Hillary Clinton was taking Saudi Arabia donations and approving the arms sales supplied to ISIS.

"There's an early 2014 email from Hillary Clinton, so not so long after she left Secretary of State, to her campaign manager, John Podesta. That email, it states that ISIL, ISIS, is funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar."

Assange continued, "The governments of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Now this is a, I actually, I think this is the most significant email in the whole collection. And perhaps because Saudi and Qatari money is spread all over the place, including into many media institutions..."

"Under Hillary Clinton and Clinton emails reveal a significant discussion about it, the largest ever arms deal in the world was made with Saudi Arabia, more than $80 billion. In fact, during her tenure as Secretary of State, total arms are exports from the United States in terms of the dollar value doubled?"

"Doubled. And of course the consequence of that is that this notorious terrorist jihadist group called ISIL or ISIS is created largely with money from the very people who are giving money to the Clinton Foundation."

Unsurprisingly, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has not made any public comments about Assange's release.

Pompeo has been accused of instructing CIA hits on Assange to have him assassinated in prison, among other things.

On August 15, 2022, Reuters published an article that read, "A group of journalists and lawyers sued the CIA and its former director Mike Pompeo over allegations the intelligence agency spied on them when they visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during his stay in Ecuador's embassy in London.

The lawsuit said that CIA under Pompeo violated the privacy rights of those American journalists and lawyers by allegedly spying on them. The plaintiffs include journalists Charles Glass and John Goetz and attorneys Margaret Kunstler and Deborah Hrbek, who have represented Assange."

A few months later on November 2, 2022, a video went viral of the former U.S. secretary of state and ex-CIA head being formally served with the lawsuit.

Many have pointed out that Assange's new plea deal comes within weeks of former President Trump stating that he would pardon the WikiLeaks founder when elected to his next term.

The world will be waiting for developments during Assange's day in the Saipan court on Wednesday, June 26.
