Third-party candidates appear to sap more votes from Clinton

Hillary Clinton appears to lose more support in the latest general election polling when third-party candidates are considered.

Two major new polls released Sunday both show the presumptive Democratic nominee losing more declared support than her rival Donald Trump when the Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are included in the polls.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has Clinton beating Trump 46-41 percent in a head-to-head matchup.

With the other candidates included, however, her lead drops to 1 percentage point: 39-38 percent.

Similarly, a Washington Post/ABC News poll finds Clinton outdrawing Trump 51-39 percent in a one-on-one contest. But that 12 percent margin shrinks to 10 percent with Johnson and Stein included, with Clinton losing 4 percentage points and Trump only 2.
