Pennsylvania results show Trump’s millennial advantage over Clinton

Millennials are supposed to be against Donald Trump — and most Republican ideas — however, the generation may hold the key to winning the important swing state of Pennsylvania and its 20 Electoral College votes.

According to The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) nearly as many Gen Y voters participated in the Pennsylvania Republican primary as the Democratic one, 157,000 compared to 198,000.

Trump won a majority of millennial votes in the GOP primary, 52 percent or 81,640 votes, while Clinton received just 17 percent or 33,660 votes.

Nearly 50,000 more votes among young people could be critical in a close election, and while obviously, more people will come out to vote in the general election, the excitement and young activists are clearly on Trump’s side.

There’s also no clear indication that Bernie Sanders supporters will cross over and vote for Clinton rather than a more progressive candidate like the Green Party’s Jill Stein.
