October Surprise: Michigan Governor Extends Her Executive Orders

There has never been a person who has loved bypassing a State Legislature more than Governor Gretchen Whitmer. I think she dreams of ways to bypass them and can’t wait until the morning where she can excitedly run into her staffers with her crazy new idea.

On Tuesday, Whitmer continued her odd balancing act of allowing the peasants to open stuff up while extending her overzealous control of the State and deciding that she and no one else should have a say in how the State is run.

From the Detroit News…

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Tuesday extended Michigan’s state of emergency through Oct. 27 as officials continue to voice concern about the threat of COVID-19.

The emergency declaration has been in place since March 10, when Michigan reported its first cases of COVID-19 and 231 days before the extended state of emergency is set to end. The previous extension was set to end Thursday.

“This emergency will end, and it is a matter of months,” Whitmer said in a statement. “But we are not out of the woods yet. Right now, the federal government and all 50 states have been under some form of state of emergency.

“We must continue doing our part to fight this virus on behalf of our families, frontline workers, and our small businesses.”

Hopefully, the Michigan State Supreme Court will end this very soon. They heard a case regarding the authority she is claiming she has in the Michigan Constitution to continuously do this on Sept 9th and a decision should be coming any day now.
