Melania Trump hospitalized for the week after surgery for 'benign kidney condition'

First lady Melania Trump had surgery on Monday morning for a “benign kidney condition” and is expected to be in the hospital for the rest of the week, the White House said.

Trump underwent an “embolization procedure,” which the White House said was successful and did not result in any complications. The first lady is being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.

“The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere,” Stephanie Grisham, communications director for the first lady, said in a statement.

President Trump was at the White House while the first lady underwent the operation, according to CNN.

Last week, Trump unveiled a campaign designed to help children, called “Be Best,” which focuses on the physical, social and emotional health of kids.
