James Comey visits the New York Times building for charity event

Former FBI Director James Comey attended a charity event at the New York Times' Manhattan building Thursday with his wife.

The Daily Mail originally reported that Comey had been spotted entering the New York Times office building but the Times' White House correspondent, Maggie Haberman, clarified on Twitter that Comey was there for a charity event.

The event was for the National Court Appointed Special Advocate, which according to its website is an association made up of volunteers dedicated to child welfare.

Haberman also pointed out that Comey and his wife had previously been foster parents.
