Cruz proves he was the wrong anti-Trump candidate

Back on March 1, 2016, Senator Ted Cruz called for Senator Marco Rubio to drop out of the race, saying, “We need to get to a one-on-one battle with Donald Trump,” and that he would prevail over Trump.

Two months later, it’s clear Cruz was the wrong #NeverTrump candidate to take on The Donald.

With Trump set to win an overwhelming victory in Indiana (unless you believe a couple junk polls), he will be in a position to wrap up the nomination after California and avoid a contested convention.

We should have listened to Trump. In March, Trump said, “I would love to take on Ted one-on-one. He can’t win New York. He can’t win New Jersey. He can’t win Pennsylvania. He can’t win California.”

That’s exactly what has happened so far. Not only did Trump win the Northeast Super Tuesday — he won 95 percent of the delegates. He was supposed to win, but not 95 percent of the delegates. This crushing defeat has almost caught him up to the 1237 delegate pace he needs.
