UT-Austin campus police fines Christian for “offensive speech"

The University of Texas at Austin police department issued a citation for disorderly conduct to an outdoor preacher after students complained that the Christian’s words offended them — despite the fact that they were not even on campus.

“It doesn’t matter about freedom of speech, someone was offended,” said the officer . “That’s against the law.”

According to The Daily Caller, the preacher was an intern for the Campus Ministry USA, an evangelical ministry organization which preaches the Bible on or near college campuses. The intern, named Josh, was preaching out against STDS and the dangers of anal sex.

The officer said the words “anal” and “penis” offended several female students passing into campus, but when Joshua asked what words he could say to not offend the students the officer couldn’t give any suggestions.

When Joshua asked if offensive words trump free speech, the officer said that the law is strictly fines speech that triggers people.
