Trump, Xi to meet at Mar-a-Lago next month

President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet next month at Trump's Florida club in their first face-to-face meeting since Trump took the White House.

Axios reported Monday Trump and Xi will meet at Mar-a-Lago in April in his first summit with a leader of the world's most populous country. While Xi and Trump have not yet met in person, they did speak by phone shortly after Trump was inaugurated.

The report stated the meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 6 and April 7.

Trump frequently criticized the Chinese government during the campaign and provoked a panicked response from Beijing when he accepted a congratulatory call from the Taiwanese president following his election. Trump said he believed the "one China" policy, which recognizes Taiwan as a part of China, was up for negotiation but he later backed off that statement.

According to the report, Trump and Xi aren't planning on engaging in any golf at Trump's Florida club. Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe spent a weekend at Mar-a-Lago last month and were spotted golfing during their stay.
