Trump eager for attacks from Cruz

There is a fight brewing between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

After audio of Cruz's comments at a private fundraiser about his primary strategy became public, Trump tweeted that it would be easy for the billionaire to defeat Cruz in an upcoming battle.

The audio published by the New York Times largely mirrors Cruz's past statements about how he expects to win the GOP primary, but he went into greater detail on his analysis of Trump and Ben Carson.

"I think both of them [Trump and Carson], their campaigns have a natural arc and with both of them I think gravity is pulling them down. We've seen that, Carson is further in that descent," Cruz said. "People are looking for who is prepared to be a commander-in-chief? Who understands the threats we face? Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button. Now that's a question of strength but it's also a question of judgment and I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them."

Following a Times report that Cruz had questioned Trump's "judgment," the Cruz campaign responded by calling the Times' reporting "misleading." Regardless of whether the Texas senator wants to battle Trump at this moment, Cruz's rivals in the Trump campaign appear poised to go on the attack.
