Trump didn't see Don Jr.'s emails before Tuesday, attorney says

Jay Sekulow, a member of President Trump's legal team, said Trump first saw the emails in which his son Donald Trump Jr. agreed to a meeting last year with a Kremlin-linked lawyer promising dirt that could hurt Hillary Clinton on Tuesday.

Sekulow's assertion happened as he was finishing an interview Tuesday evening on CNN, making the rounds following an interview Trump Jr. gave on Fox News. Host Jake Tapper pressed him on when the president became aware of the "full story" of the meeting that took place in June 2016 between Donald Trump Jr., attorney, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, Trump's son-in-law and now adviser Jared Kusher, and the Russian attorney.

"You're talking very recently and I'm not going to give you the nature of the conversation," Sekulow began. "It was a conversation between his lawyers and the president very very recently."

He then began to say, "The president was not aware of this until very —," before pausing.

"Today? Yesterday?", Tapper followed.
