The U.S. Secret Service plans to test the use of a drone as a form of security when President Trump when he visits his golf club in New Jersey later this month.
The agency announced Wednesday it plans to use a small tethered unmanned aircraft system during the president's visit to the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, where he is expected to stay for an extended period of time in August.
Flying autonomously at an altitude of 300 to 400 feet, the drone is equipped with infrared and electro-opitcal cameras to scope for potential threats, according to Reuters.
The Secret Service said the drone may incidently be in range of private residences, but any images or video recorded will be overwritten within 30 days or become part of a law enforcement investigation. It will notify people at the club that the premises are being watched by a drone.
