A recent poll shows that a majority of millennials believe that political correctness has gone too far and that people are too easily offended.
A partnership of the Black Youth Project, the Associated Press, and the University of Chicago, conducted the poll of 1,965 millennials ages 18-30 in June. Millennials are not as big of fans of political correctness as it might seem.
One of the survey questions asked to millennials was: “There’s been a lot of talk lately about ‘political correctness.’ Some people think that the way people talk needs to change with the times to be more sensitive to people from different backgrounds. Others think that this has already gone too far and many people are just too easily offended. Which is closer to your opinion?”
In response to this survey question, 33 percent of millennials said “people are much too easily offended” and 25 percent said “people are a little too easily offended.”
In contrast, 22 percent of millennials said “the way people talk needs to change a little” and 19 percent said “the way people talk needs to change a lot.”
