Millions more millennials voted for Trump than projected

Polling indicated leading up to the election that Hillary Clinton was going to win the youth vote decisively. Red Alert Politics Millennial Poll Average, which consists of the mean of the last eight polls, showed Hillary Clinton had 53 percent support from millennials while Trump had 25 percent.  Some polls had Clinton as high as 68 percent.

CIRCLE, one of the preliminary youth polling groups, projected Donald Trump would win just 28 percent.

A new report from CIRCLE with exit poll results shows Trump won 37 percent of the vote — also finding that 24 million voters under age 35 voted.

With those two figures (a 9 percent boost and 24 million voters), we can calculate 2.16 million more millennials voted for Trump than CIRCLE initially projected. Further, if you use Red Alert’s average, the number spikes to 2.88 million.

Either way, it is clear that these 2+ million voters are a big reason why Trump is now President-elect.
