Former President Bill Clinton was at a campaign stop in New Hampshire, one of states with the fewest minorities in the union, where he pronounced his support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
“I like all those young people in Black Lives Matter,” Clinton said. “I think what they are saying is important when you see an unarmed young person get 17 bullets in one of our cities and another mentally ill man who never should have had the gun in his hand running away from the police and have 32 bullets fired at him.”
Clinton was referring to the murder of Laquan McDonald who was shot by police officers in Chicago. The murder led to a national scandal when it was revealed by the Daily Beast that former Clinton advisor and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel tried quash the dash cam showing the cops killing the unarmed black man.
He also announced his support for the removal of the Confederate flag and granting amnesty to illegal immigrant DREAMers.
“Why am I saying this?” Clinton continued. “Because to have broad-based prosperity you have to have inclusive economics and more equal opportunities for people. To take advantage of it and to make it work you have to have inclusive societies where we relish our differences, but where when our chips are down our common humanity matters more.”
