Millennials, women, and minorities are expected to fall in line with the Democratic Party, especially when the alternative is Donald Trump — but one young Latina came out to her friends and family that she would be voting for the Republican nominee.
Natalie Lally wrote in The Tab about how she had finally confessed to her friends and family, all of whom are diehard Democrats, that she was “a member of the silent majority” and voting for Trump.
“Last weekend, my family came together for a small gathering. Amid the overflowing plates of stew chicken and empanadas, I heard ‘that’ dreadful conversation begin. Political conversations are something that just cannot be dodged with an election this chaotic,” Lally wrote. “When my uncle asked me who I’m voting for, let’s just say that the room went silent with judgment and concerned faces.”
“I am a Donald J. Trump supporter, and unlike the silent majority, I am not afraid to say it,” she continued. “Reluctant Trump supporters should not be ashamed about the presidential candidate they support. You need to stand up for what you believe in, even though it’s difficult at times.”
She confessed that Trump is not a perfect candidate and said he can be “obnoxious at times,” but argued that he is far superior to Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.
