Donald Trump: Make child care fully tax-deductible

Donald Trump laid out his eagerly awaited economic plan on Monday, which includes relief for parents in the form of fully tax-deductible child care.

“No one will gain more from these proposals than low- and middle-income Americans,” Trump said during his speech in Detroit. “My plan will also help reduce the cost of child care by allowing parents to fully deduct the average cost of child care spending from their taxes.”

A senior aide to Trump announced the plan on Sunday night.

Trump also mentioned his daughter, Ivanka, during his speech. “As part of this new future, we will also be rolling out proposals to increase choice and reduce cost in child care, offering much-needed relief to American families. I will unveil my plan on this in the coming weeks that I have been working on with my daughter Ivanka and an incredible team of experts.”

Ivanka stunned many during her speech at the Republican National Convention last month, when she spoke about the role of mothers in the workplace and said that her father “will focus on making quality child care affordable and accessible for all.” Ivanka has been mentioned as someone who could possibly get her father back on track with his campaign.
