Democrats praise Trump for visiting Louisiana

Donald Trump earned some much-deserved praise from two high-profile Louisiana Democrats who thanked the Republican nominee for visiting areas of the state that had been devastated by flooding.

On Friday, Trump and his Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence toured several areas that had been ravaged by torrential rains. The Republican nominee brought an 18-wheeler full of supplies and much-needed media attention.

Neither President Obama or Hillary Clinton had visited the area, claiming that their personal protection would have diverted resources.

Former Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) praised the billionaire for coming, stating that the situation had largely been ignored until Trump came to the region.

“I want to thank Mr. Trump for coming to Louisiana,” Landrieu said on CNN. “I think the governor’s admonition about not using it as a press opp is a good one, but he brought attention to our state, and we need that now because this disaster is far larger than people can appreciate on television.”
