Ariana Grande Concert Rocked by Explosion

Police are treating a deadly explosion at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, as a "possible terrorist incident," according to the BBC and other sources. As of late Monday evening eastern time, the death toll stood at 19, with 50 more injured.

Concertgoers report hearing one or more explosions, just as Grande finished her set at approximately 10:40 p.m. local time. From the New York Times:

At least one explosion happened in the foyer of the arena, not the main event hall, according to the British Transport Police, the force that protects Victoria Station, the train terminus next to the arena. The terminal was evacuated.

The Greater Manchester Police, the British Transport Police, and the North West Counter Terrorism Unit are handling the investigation.

Many eyewitnesses reported they were exiting the venue when the explosion happened.
