Are Google searches biased in favor of Hillary Clinton?

It seems like another influential tech company may be in the bag for Hillary Clinton.

A video released by SourceFed on Thursday made the case that Google is manipulating search terms to help Clinton’s campaign. The video is gaining traction on social media and had over 11 million views as of Friday afternoon.

The video explains that when users type in “Hillary Clinton cri” the search engine’s top recommendations to complete the phrase are “crime reform,” “crisis,” and “crime bill 1994.” However, when the same phrase is typed into Yahoo! or Bing, both search engines recommend “criminal charges,” “crimes,” and “criminal record.”

When these terms were entered into Google Trends, it was clear that “Hillary Clinton crimes” was, in fact, a far more popular search term than “Hillary Clinton crime reform.”

Experimenting with different search variations for “Hillary Clinton indictment” and “crooked Hillary” on all three search engines produced similar results, leading SourceFed to conclude that “Google is burying searches for terms that could have hurt Hillary Clinton in the primary elections over the past several months by manipulating recommendations on their site.”
