All tied up: Johnson jumps 13% in two weeks with millennials, Clinton tumbles 17%

A new Quinnipiac poll shows Hillary Clinton has dropped 17 percent among voters under age 35 since Aug. 25.

The primary benefactor? Gary Johnson.

Quinnipiac data from Aug. 25 showed Clinton with 48 percent of the millennial vote, Trump with 24 percent, and Johnson with 16 percent. Their latest polling released late yesterday shows the three candidates statically tied within the margin of error — with Johnson jumping to second place.

Clinton is winning just 31 percent, Johnson is winning 29 percent, and Trump is winning 26 percent. That’s a 13 percent increase for Johnson and a 2 percent increase for Trump, showing that Democrat-leaning millennials are abandoning Clinton for Johnson.

This confirms Reuters and Bloomberg polls showing similar trends. Pollster Gary Langer, who is conducting the polling for ABC News/Washington Post in this year’s election, said last week, “Clinton takes a slight hit from the presence of Johnson and Stein… it’s a 51-43 percent contest (Clinton +8) in a two-way matchup with Trump alone.
