91% of millennials want Independent candidate

A new poll of nearly 1,000 voters reveals America would love a third option in a Hillary Clinton versus Donald Trump matchup.

55 percent of all voters — and a stunning 91 percent of voters under age 30 — would be at least “somewhat willing” to support an independent candidate in the race, according to the poll from Data Targeting released today. 50 percent of these millennials said they were “pretty willing” or “very willing” to vote for an independent.

And, an astonishing 9 percent of millennials admitted they will stay home or not vote, rather than supporting either frontrunner. Only 1 percent of the overall population admitted the same thing. Millennials are clearly not motivated to turn out for this election.

That’s glorious news for Trump.

In this poll, 45 percent of voters under 30 identify as liberal (only 5 percent identify at conservatives); 41 percent identify as Democrats (only 14 percent identify as Republicans). This millennial sample is tilted a bit to the left, as most polls show 15-to-25 percent of millennials as conservative. That being said, it’s clear that these left-leaning millennials sampled want an independent option as opposed to Clinton. It’s also clear that liberal millennials may not show up this November at all.
